Activities around Lake Como

Aside from sightseeing and watersports there are a whole host of activities to take part in around Lake Como!

Bicycle Rental
Exploring the lake by bicycle is an excellent way to see the scenery while avoiding some of the heat of the day and enjoying a lakeside breeze. Whether you choose to explore the lakeside by bike or to head up into the hills, a mountain bike can ensure you can discover paths a routes that may be difficult to cover on foot.
Bicycles can be hired at 'Bici 2000' in Lenno - tel: 0344 56565

Boat Rentals
Whether you wish to hire your own speedboat or sailing boat, or you'd prefer to cruise the lake while a driver takes control, there are many places to hire boats on the lake. Renting a boat offers an excellent way to see the sites without being limited to the fixed routes and schedules of the ferry boats - although these can be equally romantic ways of crossing the water they do not offer the same level of privacy your own boat does.

Walks
On the west side of the lake lies the Lake Como Greenway, a great trail you can follow that largely clings to the edge of the lake, occasionally rising up the hill behind. Around Tremezzo it passes through a very attractive lakeside park, where many locals come to picnic and bathe on the weekends. The best places to join the route are in Lenno and Tremezzo

Gondola Rides
You can take the Funiculare on the Western shore of the lake to the top of the mountain to enjoy spectacular views

Seaplane
If you fancy taking to the skies for a fresh perspective on the lake and the mountains surrounding the area, a ride in the Lake Como seaplane is an excellent option for a truly unique experience. Tours can be arranged to explore other nearby lakes too, such as Lake Lugano and Lake Maggiore. For enquiries please contact:

Golf
If you can't bear to be away from your clubs there are a good number of golf clubs in the region around Lake Como. One of the most local is the Menaggio & Cadenabbia Golf Club; established in 1907 it is the second oldest golf club in Italy, founded by a British gentleman and so naturally 'run in a true British style'. The course is (understandably) alpine and fits around the local terrain. For more details visit their website

Casinos
If you fancy a flutter or the Lake Como nightlife isn't quite swinging enough for you, the casinos of Lake Lugano are less than an hour's drive away offering roulette, chemin de fer, blackjack, baccarat and al the other favourites.
